M.C. Escher's "Reptiles" shows a geometric design of a reptile pattern drawn on a piece of paper. Around the paper are things sometimes seen on an artist's desk; a geometric paperweight, an eraser, a bottle for ink, a plant, and some small books. From the geometric pattern on the paper, reptiles are crawling out of it, becoming 3-dimensional. they go across the books and around, melting into a 2-dimensional geometric shape again.
